Shayelyn: senior

September 23, 2009

Are you shocked to see an update?!?!  Yeah, me too!  I’m finally digging myself out of the summer madness and vow to blog as much as I possibly can in the next several weeks.  My brain (and hard drives) are overflowing with new images of amazing people.  I’ve been horrible about blogging this summer, so I couldn’t decide where/when/how to get back into it!  I finally decided to kick it off with the shoot I had just a few hours ago.  Here’s my most recent rockin’ senior…

Could her eyes be any more stunning?  Plus, they just happen to match the water tank in the background.  ;-)

Shay mentioned that she loves images that are filled with bursts of sunlight, so we rocked the flare.

Shay’s mom picked out this hat specifically for the photo shoot.  LOVE IT, MOM!

I didn’t think this girl could get any cooler.  Then she told me about her dreams to become a pilot or astronaut.  She’s already taking flying lessons!  We wrapped up the shoot on the runway…just before the sun went down.

Busy Bee

September 16, 2009

Reasons why I haven’t been blogging:

I’ve been busy with senior sessions.  Plus, I got stung by a nasty bee.  Here’s proof of both.

brittany-blog

Can you spot the bee?  This isn’t the actual bee that stung me.  We drove to another location to get away, but they were everywhere we went!  Brittany’s facial expressions are hysterical!  Luckily, I was the only one who got the stinger.  I had a severe allergic reaction which caused my arm to swell up to the size of a 300 pound man, but I’m back to “normal” now!

I’m trying to get all of your senior sessions and wedding galleries up ASAP, so I’ll be a little slow with the blogging.  I’ve also got some huge projects that I’m working on.  PLEASE stay tuned!  Once I’m caught up, I’ll have a bah-jillion photos and stories to share with you!

P.S. I also just went to Las Vegas for my husband’s best friend’s wedding!  Check out Jed + Damaris’ ridiculously awesome, pimped-out wedding on my friends’ blog! See if you can spot me in one of the photos!

The Stoick Family

September 8, 2009

Every person we meet comes into our lives for a reason.  Maybe it’s simply to open up a door.  Or maybe it’s to open up our eyes to what’s truly important in life.

Matt and I met the Stoick family at Jaymee & Jeff’s wedding last summer and instantly felt a connection.  We became fast friends and stayed in touch through emails, phone calls and even a round of golf!  So when they set up a family photo session for this summer, I was excited to say the least.

This session took place on July 7 and it couldn’t have been a more perfect day for a photo shoot.  The plan was for me to meet them at their house, so they could follow me to a wheat field-ish, Montana-ish or flowery location.  But as soon as I pulled into their driveway, my gut told me to stay at their home.  So, that’s what we did!  Their family hung out in the yard chasing around the kids, laughing, hugging and holding hands.  During one of the family group shots, Kelly couldn’t stop laughing.  She radiated so much happiness and pure love for her family that I couldn’t help but focus in on her.

Kelly went to be with the Lord on Saturday.  I can’t even begin to express what a blessing it was to know her.  Just by watching her during this photo shoot, I was reminded of many things: Slow down and soak in what’s happening at that moment.  Make family a priority.  Laugh out loud.  It even brought me back to the core of why I got into photography.  Thank you, Kelly.

This is how we will always remember you…
